I grew up on an Island where “The Lighthouse” was a symbol for tourism. But for me it represented adventure, searching, exploring, guidance, safety and help. I started my own company in the UK based on these elements, helping transform the bodies and minds of those that needed a little help on their journey. Pharos is now the physical manifestation of the lighthouse project. With my partners Emylee and Jeff we share the desire to offer a beacon of support in the LA landscape… to help anyone that walks through our door in the most complete way. We have collectively combined all our knowledge and experience in the fitness industry and poured it in to Pharos to give our members the best conditions possible for growth, transformation and community. I’m so proud to be a part of it and can’t wait to welcome you!
Jeff Scarborough is a graduate of the University of Delaware where he earned a B.S. degree in Health and Exercise Science. He began his love of playing sports and being physically active at the age of 3 and continued his sports career playing both football and lacrosse throughout his freshman year of college.
After graduating he interned at one of the largest CrossFit boxes in the country, CrossFit Riverfront, where he soon became Head Coach and General Manager. Jeff has made podium in many competitions back east and even placed 60th in SoCal for the 2016 CrossFit Open. After several years of coaching and competing in Delaware Jeff decided to fulfill his dream of moving to California where he had an opportunity to help establish, design, manage and coach a CrossFit gym in the Los Feliz area for 2 years. Combining all of this education and experience Jeff teamed up with his two highly qualified partners to open Pharos “One stop shop” training facility.

I was never an athlete. I never had coordination or speed. Or teamwork Skills. I was a fat kid with Rheumatoid Arthritis and Hip Displasia who won eating contests and got a Dr’s note to get out of P.E. However, in 2009, my weak joints and 5 foot flat frame couldn’t support my 150lb load, and I woke up everyday racked with pain and inflammation.
I only sought out wellness to avoid sickness.
It was out of necessity instead of aesthetics. In 7 months, I lost 40lbs and 80% of the pain through physical therapy, strength training, yoga and manual therapy. After taking control and taking my healing in my own hands, I was able to reverse debilitation and have a strong, lean body.
Through experimentation, research and certifications, I found an active lifestyle that keeps me energetic and pain-free. I have dedicated my life to helping people defy limitations, conquer fears, train to AVOID pain, and make their fitness dreams become a healthy reality. I surround myself around health and wellness everyday, relentlessly and tirelessly adding research to my toolbox so I can continue to be a helpful reference for those who need help finding their walk to wellness.”
Emylee Covell is certified through ACE, CrossFit L1, Yoga Alliance, and Tom Meyers Kinesis Myofascial Integration. She has worked with athletes from the NFL, CrossFit regionals and games competitors, USC Panhellenic, and weekend warriors alike to reduce pain, increase mobility and live life to their fullest range of motion.
She has used her unique skillset to develop Mobility Gains℠, a movement therapy program designed to correct poor movement patterns, prevent injury and enhance athletic performance.
Pieter Vodden has been in the fitness industry for over 12 years and has been involved in fitness his whole life. He has used his knowledge and experience to guide some of the biggest names in Hollywood to their physical peak. He has also helped guide hundreds of people from all walks of life to a stronger, healthier and subsequently better life.
Pieter has appeared in multiple publications such as Mens Fitness, Mens Health and The Telegraph and is passionate about helping people simply get better on every level. His goal is to positively affect the lives of as many people as possible. He wants to connect, inspire and change those that need a little help on their health and fitness journey. He is an expert at bringing people together, building a team environment and growing excellence through achievement.
Pieter was a cast trainer on the much anticipated feature film “Suicide Squad”. He assisted legendary trainer Mark Twight on “Wonder Woman”, “Justice League”, “300: Rise of an Empire”, “Man of Steel” and “The Man from Uncle”. These movie projects provided Pieter the opportunity to work with Joel Kinnamen, Viola Davis, Scott Eastwood, Ike Barinholtz, Margot Robbie, Cara Delevingne, Adam Beach, Lena Headey, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, Lisa Lovren, Ray Fischer, Jason Momoa, Ahmad Al Harthy, Kevin Vance, Brooke Ence, Karen Fukuhara, Madeleine Vall, among others.
